Learning and Development Advisor

Help people learn. Help children thrive. Make a real difference.

At NYAS (National Youth Advocacy Service), learning has purpose. Our people support children, young people and vulnerable adults to have their voices heard and the right learning enables them to do that with confidence, skill and care.

We’re looking for a Learning & Development Advisor to work 35 hours a week to strengthen capability across the organisation, grow a strong learning culture and ensure our colleagues have access to inclusive, engaging and high‑quality development.

About the role

This role exists to help NYAS colleagues do their best work. You’ll work closely with teams and leaders across the organisation to understand learning needs, co‑design practical solutions and increase engagement with development opportunities.

You’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering our L&D offer, from leadership development to digital learning, while ensuring quality, compliance and safeguarding are embedded throughout.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support learning needs analysis and contribute to annual L&D plans aligned to organisational priorities
  • Design and deliver blended learning programmes, pathways and resources that are practical and inclusive
  • Increase the visibility, accessibility and uptake of learning through engaging internal communications
  • Support management and leadership development across all levels of the organisation
  • Develop and curate high-quality digital learning content and resources
  • Ensure learning activity aligns with safeguarding, compliance and quality standards
  • Evaluate learning impact and provide clear insight and reporting
  • Line manage and support the Learning & Development Assistant

About you

You’ll bring a genuine passion for learning, people development and social purpose, alongside:

  • Experience designing and delivering learning solutions, ideally within a charity, public sector or mixed-workforce environment
  • Strong facilitation, coaching and communication skills.
  • Experience contributing to learning needs analysis and turning insight into development plans.
  • Knowledge of modern learning approaches, digital tools and LMS platforms.
  • The ability to build trusted, collaborative relationships
  • Strong organisation and project management skills
  • CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent) in Learning & Development.

Our values matter

At NYAS, how we work is just as important as what we do. We’re looking for someone who:

  • Champions the voices of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
  • Promotes learning, curiosity and continuous improvement.
  • Acts with integrity, professionalism and care.
  • Is inclusive, empathetic and committed to equality of opportunity.

Why work for NYAS?

At NYAS, you’ll join a passionate, supportive team working toward an important cause. We are committed to helping you succeed and are proud to offer:

  • Purpose with impact: Your work directly strengthens outcomes for children and young people.
  • Flexible & hybrid working: Balance home working with time in our Birkenhead office.
  • Supportive culture: Be part of a values‑led organisation that genuinely cares about its people.
  • Development: We invest in your learning and growth.

Other benefits include

  • Competitive charity sector salary
  • Enhanced annual leave, including additional volunteer days
  • 6% employer pension scheme
  • Health and wellbeing support, including Employee Assistance Programme
  • Blue light card benefits
