The Vacancy

We are looking to recruit a full-time Solicitor working 35 hours per week with experience of private law work and a commitment to the legal representation of children and young people in private law cases.

You will provide legal advice and representation to our service users, which include children, young people, vulnerable adults, parents and carers and will perform the duties of a Solicitor.

You will ensure that all documentation filed by the courts meet NYAS standards and court timescales and is within scope for payment by the Legal Aid Agency.

In your application, you will need to evidence, using specific examples, how your skills and experience meet the criteria laid out in the person specification, within the job description attached. Requirements include:

  • Professional qualification as Solicitor.
  • Hold and maintain a current practising certificate from the Law Society of England and Wales.
  • Experience of communication and legal representation of children, young people, vulnerable adults and their parents and carers.
  • Detailed working knowledge of Children Act and other legislation and guidance relevant to representation in family proceedings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to a high standard both orally and in writing to a wide range of people, maintaining professionalism at all times.
